Bengals Open Avista Tourney with Wins

Both Lewiston High basketball teams opened the Avista Holiday High School Basketball Tournament at the P1FCU Activity Center  with wins.

Paytland Schnell led the Bengal girls with 24 points and Avery Balmer added 10 in beating Grangeville 68-53. With the win, the Lewiston girls improve to 5-5 and will play the winner of Ellensburg and Pendleton tomorrow (Tue) at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Bengal boys cruised to a 71-40 victory over Kellogg to open the boys tournament.

Blaze Hepburn put up a career-high 23 points and Royce Fisher added 18. As a team, the Bengals made 12 three-point field goals to improve to 5-2 on the year. Up next, Lewiston will face the winner of the Ellensburg/Pendleton game tomorrow (Tue) at 3 p.m.
