Lewiston Crews Respond to Structure Fire

The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1800 block of Cedar Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. last (Wed) night.

According to a news release, arriving crews found a one story residence with smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Firefighters found the seat of the fire in the basement. The blaze was quickly knocked down and the search found no occupants inside. Positive pressure ventilation was used to evacuate smoke from the structure and overhaul of the fire damaged area was accomplished. The owners of the home were located outside the structure and said they evacuated when the smoke detectors activated and called 911. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Damage estimates to the structure and contents were approximately $50,000.
