Someone found a dead body outside of Colfax this morning. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, The Colfax Police Department, and the Whitman County Coroner responded to the report in a remote area along South Palouse River Road.
A release from the Sheriff’s Office says “Due to the advanced state of decomposition, deputies were unable to determine the identity or sex of the deceased at the scene.”
The State Patrol Crime Lab is now helping with evidence collection. The remains are in custody of the coroner, who is working to determine the identity and cause of death of the person.
