Idaho County deputies were doing field training when they observed suspicious activity at the Nom Nom gas station in Grangeville. A release from the Sheriff’s Office says at about 1:45 on Tuesday afternoon, they were training nearby when the driver of vehicle at the gas station noticed a marked patrol vehicle, then looked over his shoulder, and covered something on the passenger’s seat with a blanket. A Grangeville PD officer made contact while K9 Ripley from the Sheriff’s Office performed an open-air sniff and alerted.

The release says they searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Once at the jail, they found marijuana concentrate and a meth pipe concealed in his clothing.

41-year-old Grangeville resident Christopher J. Johnson was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony introducing contraband into a correctional facility, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
