A Peck man was taken into custody after shots were fired in Peck late Saturday night.

Around midnight, Nez Perce County Deputies responded to Big Canyon Road in Peck for a shots fired call. A man, who was later identified as Shawn C. Kleemeyer, had reportedly shot at a house, broke into it, and then left moments later. The first units on scene were a Nez Perce County Deputy and a Tribal Police Officer, who quickly located and detained Kleemeyer.

According to officers, Kleemeyer allegedly shoved the Peck homeowner to the ground and pointed a pistol at him. Kleemeyer then pointed the gun at the front door and fired it, then ran out and continued firing. The suspect has been taken to the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center and has been booked for aggravated assault and burglary.

The investigation is pending and more charges may be filed. Anyone in the area that may have information or video footage of this incident is requested to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (208) 799-3132. (NP Sheriff’s Office)
