A Lewiston man has pleaded guilty in the killings of his ex-wife and daughter, and the injury to his grandson.

73-year-old Richard Carlin entered his pleas on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder Tuesday in 2nd District Court.

Carlin beat and fatally stabbed 72-year-old Raetta Carlin and 50-year-old Michelle Carlin, and stabbed his 20-year-old grandson at his ex-wife’s home in Lewiston last November. He fled to Oregon and was captured hours later at a Stanfield truck stop.

His pleas are part of a mediated settlement that recommends he serve 19 years to life in prison for the murders, and a fixed 19-year sentence for the attempted murder.

A status conference scheduled for next week will have the judge decide whether to order a pre-sentence investigation, with a sentencing date tentatively set for August 13th. (Lewiston Tribune)
