The Asotin Creek Shooting Range will likely stay closed. The area was closed to shooters in the Asotin Creek Wildlife Area after flooding moved Asotin Creek onto the range last month. In a press release, Wildlife Area Manager Bob Dice said “Unfortunately, the cost both financially and environmentally to put the creek back where it was to protect the range would be astronomical.” Fish and Wildlife says it’s a natural process for streams to meander and change course, and when humans try to change it back, it can degrade habitat and water quality.
