A man was found dead in the Whitman County Jail yesterday. A press release from the Sheriff’s Office says during the early morning hours Sunday, a corrections officer found the inmate unresponsive in his cell. It happened during the regular rounds. The release goes on to say they used “life-saving measures”, and local emergency medical services responded, but the inmate was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Office says a full investigation is underway with a “comprehensive review of the incident”. The Whitman County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death.
The inmate’s name has not been released.
