Solid Singles Play Earns LC State Men’s Tennis Victory at IWU

MARION, Ind. – LC State Men’s Tennis, receiving votes in the NAIA poll, opened the Indiana portion of its road trip with a 6-1 victory at Indiana Wesleyan. The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead after doubles and won five singles matches.

 

IWU took both the top doubles and singles matches, but it was all LC State from there. Leonel Gatti and Gautam Balakrishnan dominated in No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 win, and Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne and Nell Rollin clinched the point with a 6-4 victory in the second slot.

 

Rollin blanked his opponent for the most impressive singles win on the day. He didn’t drop a game in the 6-0, 6-0 No. 5 singles match. Gatti dropped only three with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the sixth singles contest.

 

Pablo Herrera and Giacomo Moreira earned matching 6-2, 6-2 wins in their singles matches. Herrera won the third singles contest and Moreira earned his victory in the fourth spot.

 

Bonnet de Larbogne took home the highest-ranked singles win on the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in No. 2 singles.

LC State travels to Indianapolis on Friday for a contest at No. 16 Marian (Ind.).
