Governor Brad Little put pen to paper and now schools will have a moment of silence every day for students to pray or perform a silent activity of their choice. He signed House Bill 623 into law yesterday (Thurs). It requires public schools to provide at least 60 seconds near the beginning of each school day. The law also forbids teachers and administrators from telling kids how to spend their time. Local Senator Dan Foreman and Representative Brandon Mitchell voted for it. Representative Lori McCann voted against.
It takes effect July 1st.
