A new Idaho law requires drivers to avoid hitting people on electric bikes. The old language in Idaho law said “every driver of a motor vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian or any person propelling a human-powered vehicle…” A recent court ruling declared that does not include electric-powered bikes.

The new law was just signed by Governor Little yesterday (Mon) that includes the words “electric-assisted bicycle”.

The new law takes effect July 1st of this year.
