Idaho legislators are close to getting tighter restrictions on how close sex offenders can be to some daycares. Right now state law only requires them to live and loiter more than 500 feet from state-licensed daycares. Senate Bill 1239 changes that to any city, county, or state-licensed daycare.
It passed the Senate unanimously. Now the House is going through their third reading today before it heads to the Governor’s desk. If they approve it and he signs it, the law will take effect July 1st of this year.
