Potlatch Residents Need To Boil Drinking Water

The City of Potlatch recommends anyone using their water should boil it before using it. On Tuesday, a water main broke in an asbestos-cement pipe. They say they believe asbestos levels are minimal, but you should use bottled water if you have concerns.

On the city’s website today they updated citizens saying they have sent off samples for testing and should have results back in a day or two. They’re working with the Department of Environmental Quality.

The update says bacteria may have entered the system, so you should bring your water to a “rolling boil” for at least one minute if you plan to use it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes.
