The name Lewis-Clark State University is one step closer to reality. Senate Bill 1234 has moved to the Education Committee in the Idaho Legislature.

The Idaho State Board of Education approved the name change from “College” to “University” to move forward April 16 last year. They, and college leaders say it will more accurately reflect the full range of degree programs offered at the institution.

They estimate it will cost about $50,000 to implement the change. The bill says the cost will be absorbed by the existing budget.
