For about the next three months forestry crews will be working to reduce fuels on Craig Mountain. A press release from Idaho Fish & Game says they will mechanically thin and grind brush and small trees to reduce wildfire risk along Deer Creek Road, Hushpuppy Road, and surrounding areas.
Fish and Game is working with Nez Perce Tribe’s Forestry and Fire Management team on the three-year project. The first phase is underway and runs though mid-April. Over the next three years it will cover about 780 acres on lands managed by Idaho Fish & Game, Idaho Department of Lands, Nez Perce County, and the Nez Perce Tribe.
