A bill headed for public hearing tomorrow would require businesses to give their employees 72-hour notice that an ICE Inspection is coming. House Bill 2105 says “immigrant workers contribute an estimated $145,000,000,000 to Washington state’s GDP per year.” It continues saying “workplace raids conducted by the federal government is disruptive to families and communities, reduces community safety, and is ineffective at deterring illegal conduct by employers or raising standards for workers.”
The bill would require the Secretary of State to provide resources to employers about their rights and the rights of their employees. It also requires posting notice within 72 hours of the fact that an Immigrations & Customs Enforcement I-9 Inspection is coming.
The bill is up for public comment tomorrow during the House session tomorrow (Fri) at 10:30am.
