Skylar Meade pled guilty yesterday to two counts of murder in the 1st degree. Those are for James Mauney of Juliaetta and Gerald Henderson of Orofino. As part of the plea agreement, he will be sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.
In a press release, Prosecutor Justin Coleman says “This decision was made after careful consideration and after multiple conversations with law enforcement and, most importantly, the victims’ families.”
Coleman goes on to say “Through this agreement, Meade has admitted to the killings…Meade will spend the rest of his life locked up. The victims’ families and communities will be spared a difficult and prolonged trial and appeal process.”
The guilty plea means there will be no Jury Trial and Meade waived any rights to appeal the conviction.
