It took a team, but Winchester Volunteer firefighters and a city employee saved a cat from a tree on Elllis Avenue. Monday afternoon the fire dept was dispatched to the cat stuck in the tree, but they couldn’t get high up in the tree with a snow storm rolling through town.
Tuesday the cat was still there, so Brenden Crea, a city worker plowed the alley so that Fire Chief Tim Burke could get his boom truck against the tree.
Burke was able to get the cat out of the tree, but not without having it fight him “with everything it had”. Once it was on the ground, Burke says it “took off like a shot and had bounded over 2 fences like a lightning bolt before any pictures could be taken.”
