Skylar Meade was back in court today. He is charged with two counts of murder, one in Clearwater County and one in Nez Perce County. Today’s hearing was to combine the two cases into one, that way he won’t be tried in both counties separately. Meade originally pleaded Not Guilty to the murder charges. Today the judge read him the charges to make sure he understood.
“…kill or did murder Gerald D Henderson, a human being, and did aid, abet, encourage, or assist another in the willful, unlawful, and deliberate with malice of forethought killing and/or murder of Gerald D Henderson, a human being, by shooting him in the head from which he died.”
Today he stood silent, and the judge entered a Not Guilty plea.
Meade allegedly escaped from Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise in March last year. He, and alleged accomplice Nicholas Umphenour, fled the scene. That’s when the murders of two men, 83-year-oldJames Mauney of Juliaetta and Gerald Henderson of Orofino, reportedly happened. He and Umphenour were then arrested in Twin Falls.
He was in prison at the time of the escape for shooting at a Twin Falls Sheriff’s Sergeant during a high speed chase in 2017.
