If you’ve ever worried about your safety or wanted to learn how to defend yourself, the YWCA is hosting a class you don’t want to miss.
Clarkston Police Department’s John Morbeck is putting on the self-defense class. He’s trained in multiple martial arts and he says when it comes to high-stress situations, the simpler the better.
“The thing I run into when I see self-defense classes all over is multi-step, complicated techniques and things that they show these people. Under stress your body is going to go back to what you’ve trained, what you know, and there is no way you’re going to pull off a 5-step self-defense technique.”
The class is Wednesday from 1pm – 2:30pm. It’s at the YWCA on Main Street in Lewiston. There’s no need to RSVP, Morbeck says just show up in comfortable clothes. Attendees will take away a self-defense kit. It’s completely free, but donations are optional.
