CALDWELL, Idaho – Under-par rounds by Lucas Ortega and Sondre Andresen highlighted the final day of the College of Idaho Classic for the No. 19 LC State Men’s Golf team on Tuesday. The Warriors finished third overall with Ortega in the top 10.
No. 11 British Columbia took home the team title and Oregon Tech bested LC State by five strokes to finish second.
“It was not our best outing, but there were some positives that we can take into our home event,” coach Zach Anderson said. “Excited to host in the Valley next week and end the fall on our turf.”
Ortega used three birdies to erase a pair of bogeys in his final round for a 1-under, 71 to end the week. His three-round total of 2-over, 218 earned him a sixth-place finish.
After rounds of 72-74, Luke West ended his week with a 78 to tie for 16th in the field at 8-over. Freshman Andrea Artusini matched the 78 score in the round to earn a share of 19th place, one stroke behind West at 9-over.
Andresen produced the best round by a Warrior on the week with a 2-under, 70 on Tuesday. The senior, who shot 79-79 on Monday, had five birdies and an eagle in his final 18 holes to jump from 38th to a tie for 25th. Aaron Brown tied with Andresen after a round of 76 as both finished 12-over for the tournament.
Senior Kye Krall competed as an individual and finished tied for 31st after an 80 on Tuesday. He finished his week with rounds of 79-71-80 to total 14-over-par.
UP NEXT
LC State concludes the fall portion of the season next week at home. The Warrior Fall Invitational will be held at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club Oct. 20-21.
