A 55-year-old man was hunting in the backcountry of Idaho County when he called for help. A release from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday evening they got a call that he was “experiencing a medical condition”. He wasn’t able to walk or ride his horse back to camp with his hunting party.
The release goes on to say adverse weather conditions kept rescue parties from being able to get to him. Life Flight tried at first light, but couldn’t get there because of the challenging terrain and weather.
They contacted the Idaho Air National Guard who responded with a helicopter and hoist system. They extracted him safely and took him to a location where Life Flight was standing by. He was then flown to an unnamed hospital for care.
