
A bat found in Pullman has tested positive for rabies. Whitman County Public Health says it was found between the Neil Public Library and a downtown business on September 13th.
It was tested at the Washington Animal Disease Diagnotic Labratory and came up positive.
Several people had direct contact with it and they have been notified and referred to their healthcare providers for post-exposure prophylaxis.
Public Health is warning anyone who had direct contact with a bat in Pullman in the last 30 days to tell your healthcare provider right away and call Whitman County Public Health’s Disease Prevention Team at 509-397-6280.
If you find a rabid bat in your home in Whitman County, you should call the same number to let them know.
Public Health says this is the first bat to test positive for rabies this year in Whitman County.
