
A Nez Perce County man was arrested Friday following a deadly shooting incident.
According to a news release from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, at about 5:25 p.m., deputies were dispatched to to a residence in the 1100 block of Thunder Hill Road in Lapwai. A resident had called 911 and reported 2 subjects, 1 male and 1 female, had been at their home and they believed their shed had been broken into. As Deputies were en route the caller stated her fiance had just shot the two subjects. A Nez Perce Tribal Police Officer arrived on scene first and was able to detain the shooter, identified as 30 year-old Christian Forslof, without incident. At the scene a male victim and a female victim had sustained gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. The female victim was deceased and the male was conscious and was transported to St. Joes regional Medical Center by ambulance.
An investigation revealed Forslof believed the 2 subjects had entered a shed on his property. After the subjects left the property Forslof chased after them and attempted to detain them about a quarter of a mile away from his home at gun point. Niether of the victims had any weapons. A verbal altercation occurred between Forslof and the female victim when he tried to stop them. During the verbal altercation Forslof fired his pistol because the female was allegedly pointing her finger at him and walking towards him aggressively. Forslof fired several rounds at both the female and male victim.
Forslof was arrested on one count of Second Degree Murder and one Count of attempted Second Degree Murder and is being held in the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center.
The names of the victim will not be released until the notification to family is made.
