The Jackson’s Pay It Forward Foundation, a local non-profit organization that helps families dealing with a medical crisis has reached a milestone by eclipsing the 2 million dollar mark in gifts to families. The foundation is named after Jackson Baldwin, a Lewiston boy who died from cancer in 2006.
According to a news release, in it’s 19 year existence, the foundation has helped nearly 300 families with gift baskets.
The Foundation held it’s first benefit auction in 2007 and recently held it’s 10th auction in January of this year.
Besides helping families, the Foundation also awards scholarships to high school seniors in the area and hosts movies at Village Centre Cinemas for children with sensory issues, which allows families to enjoy movies together that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
To celebrate the 2 million dollar milestone, the Foundation invites the public to gather tomorrow (Wed) for ice cream in the green space next to Hot Shots Café at 631 Bryden Avenue in Lewiston from 4:30-6:30 pm.
