With more than 400,000 Idahoans traveling for the Independence Day holiday this weekend, motorists should expect to pay more for gasoline.

According to the American Automobile Association, the price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is now $3.43, 12 cents more than a month ago, but 17 cents less than a year ago. Meanwhile, the national average is at $3.17 per gallon.

AAA urges drivers to get plenty of sleep before hitting the road, avoid distractions, never drive impaired, and insist on everyone in a vehicle wear a seat belt.
