Drivers between Moscow and Lewiston have been waiting for more than a decade for today. The new four-lane section of Highway 95 between Reisenauer Hill and Moscow opens this afternoon.
The $90 million realignment began in 2022 to straighten and widen the two-lane highway into a four-lane highway.
It’s designed to have a flatter grade, fewer curves, and better access control. Idaho Transportation Department District Engineer Doral Hoff said “This improvement will make travel significantly safer, especially as we see Idaho’s population grow.”
The old section of highway will remain in place. It becomes part of the North Latah Highway District’s property and will be renamed Reisenauer Road”.
Construction of the bridge over Thorn Creek will continue to impact traffic through the fall.
