Crews Battle Old Greer Wildfire

Firefighters continue to battle the Old Greer Fire, which has grown to about 75 acres. The Lewis County Sheriff has closed Old Greer Road due to fire activity. There are 5 structures threatened, however there are no evacuations at this time.

According to a news release, the Idaho Department of Lands, together with the U.S. Forest Service, the Nez Perse Tribe, and the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Association continue to work through steep, rugged terrain to construct containment lines, slow fire spread, and continue structure protection. Additional resources have been ordered and are expected to arrive sometime today (Fri).

The Old Greer Fire is across the river from Greer, in Lewis County.

The blaze was reported Wednesday night at about 8:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation,
