Construction of a new sanitary sewer main on the 2100 block of Grelle Avenue is underway in the Lewiston Orchards. Hours of operation will generally be between 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Work will require closing Grelle Avenue from 21st Street to 22nd Street as well as the intersection of Grelle Avenue and Lindsay Creek Road. The closure will last approximately four weeks before the Lindsay Creek Road intersection can be partially reopened; traffic will be detoured but local access to all properties will remain open and accessible. Truck traffic is encouraged to plan alternate routes due to the extremely limited turnaround space along Lindsay Creek Road.
According to a news release from the city, the overall project will install 3,300 feet of new sanitary sewer line in neighborhoods currently not served by public wastewater. Failing septic systems, particularly on Grelle Avenue, have been recently reported. The overall project is expected to be completed in early November.
The public should anticipate travel delays during the closure.
