Law enforcement agencies in the region are warning of another scam.
Yesterday (Thur) a citizen was contacted by phone by a person claiming to be a Deputy Dan Brown with the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. The caller identification showed the Whitman County Court House. The scammer claimed the citizen had missed a court date and would have to pay $2,000 or they would be picked up on a warrant.
The public is reminded that law enforcement agencies don’t call and advise of warrants and they will never request payment through gift cards, Apple Pay, Crypto currency, or any other method. The law enforcement community urges the public to not fall prey to these types of scams.
