Spalding Bridge Replacement Plans Underway

The Idaho Transportation Department announced plans to replace the Spalding Bridge. That’s the one on Highway 95 at the intersection of Highway 12, east of Lewiston.

House Bill 25 passed earlier this year. It provides an additional $20 million a year for the next three years and allows the ITD to invest an extra $1 billion across the state. In a press release, the department says Spalding Bridge and the intersection with Highway 12 have been identified as a high-priority corridor in need of improvement.

Under current plans, the bridge will be replaced with two wider bridges, and it would make changes to the intersection.

Construction could start as soon as 2028. Before that, there will be a public comment period next month, and plans will be submitted to the Idaho Transportation Board in September.
