Science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) teachers in Idaho are invited to collaborate, connect and learn at one of the region’s most anticipated events for STEM education.
The 2025 Annual STEM Conference will take place July 30 and 31 at Mountain View High School in Meridian with an optional field trip on August 1. This year’s theme, “STEM Remix: Classic Concepts and Fresh Ideas,” explores current best practices while looking to what’s next in STEM instruction.
Keynote speakers are math instructional coach Kevin Dykema and astrobiofuturist Billy Almon. Almon will present on his area of study in biomimicry, a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies used in living organisms to solve challenges for individuals and society. Dykema is the current past president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has taught eighth grade math for over 25 years. He is the co-author of “Productive Math Struggle,” which provides educators an essential plan to embrace productive perseverance in mathematics.
“As STEM-related career opportunities continue to expand in Idaho and beyond, our educators have the chance to make an enormous impact on their students’ futures,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield. “This annual conference is a great chance for Idaho’s educators to bring their students the best by brushing up on foundational concepts in STEM while keeping an eye on what’s new in this quickly evolving field.”
