Louisiana State-Shreveport broke college baseball’s all-time win streak record with their 58th straight win and will play for the program’s first national baseball title tomorrow (Fri) night at Lewiston’s Harris Field in the Avista NAIA World Series.

The Pilots, now 58-0, scored 7 runs in their final three at-bats to eliminate defending national champion Hope International, California tonight (Thur). Ryan Davenport had three hits and four runs-batted-in and Ian Montz added two hits and three more RBI in the win.

Meanwhile, #6 seed Southeastern, Florida put up a tournament-high 20 hits in it’s second win over #2 seed Georgia Gwinnett in 7 innings with a 16-6 victory. Connor Hicks homered and drove in 3 runs and Charlie Collins had three hits and also knocked in three runs for the Fire in the win.

LSU-Shreveport can claim the national title tomorrow night with a win. A win by Southeastern would force a winner-take-all championship game Saturday night.

Friday’s game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with live radio coverage in the LC Valley on 95.5 FM and AM 950 KOZE and the game will also be streamed online free here.
