Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in Lapwai.
According to a news release from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, just before 7 p.m. last (Tue) night, the sheriff’s office and Nez Perce Tribal Police responded to a citizen dispute in the 600 block of Ash Avene in Lapwai.
When officers and deputies arrived on scene an unidentified male victim was located deceased with a gunshot wound. 53 year-old Victor Gray was on scene and detained as a person of interest in the shooting.
After collecting evidence at the scene and interviewing witnesses, Gray was arrested for first degree murder. He is currently being held in the Nez Perce County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Nez Perce Tribal Police, the Idaho State Police, the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the Lewiston Police Department.
According to the release, the name of the victim will be released at a later time after family notifications have been made.
