Risch Introduces Act To Prohibit Tax-Funded Gender Transition For Minors

Idaho U.S. Senator Jim Risch is working to keep taxpayers from funding gender transitions for kids. Last week, he introduced the Protecting Minors in Federal Health Plans Act. It would keep Federal Employee Health Benefits plans from covering the procedures.

In a press release, Risch said “Taxpayer-funded federal health plans should never promote extreme gender ideology, especially on our youth.” He went on to call his act “commonsense legislation” and said it will keep Idaho’s tax dollars from funding “radical and harmful medical procedures.”

Senators from North Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska are joining Risch sponsoring the bill.

The release says taxpayers are spending an estimated $50 billion this year on plan premiums, but it does not say how much of that is going to gender-transition surgeries.
