The Nez Perce Tribe supports a recent bill co-sponsored by Congressman Mike Simpson. The “Public Lands in Public Hands Act” would ban the sale or transfer of most public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service.
There is a push from lawmakers in several states who have proposed taking control of federal land, potentially to sell off land to developers.
In a release from the Nez Perce Tribe, they say “…these lands are increasingly under threat,” and they encourage voters to communicate with your U.S. Representative and say “Public lands shouldn’t be pawned off to the highest bidder!”
