
You can start cutting firewood in the Umatilla National Forest May 1st. You’ll need a permit for it.
All National Forests in Oregon and Washington offer free firewood for personal-use. You can only cut 12 cords per household per year though. If you need more than that, or if you plan to sell it, you can buy commercial firewood permits for $10 per cord. If you’re going that route, there’s a $30 minimum.
