Scammers are trying to trick Lewis County residents. The Sheriff’s Office reports calls are going out, with the scammer pretending to be a law enforcement officer. That person then says you’ve missed jury duty and you’ll be charged for it. Of course, you can pay them to keep from being penalized.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says you’ll only be contacted by telephone if you’ve been summoned to jury duty and you’re not required to serve.
