The New Washington State University President says her job is the “most important job to protect national security.” Elizabeth “Betsy” Cantwell finished her week-long tour of WSU campuses across the state with those words back in Pullman. She added: the university’s mission remains to educate the next generation of leaders.
Cantwell started in the Tri-Cities last Tuesday, then hit Spokane, Everett, and Vancouver.
Her remarks highlighted student safety as well as protecting academic freedom and freedom of speech.
She told audience members was to quickly be introduced the campuses and communities. Next fall, she plans to go on a listening tour when she wants to hear the strengths of the WSU system as well as its challenges.
