Lewiston House Fire Results in $100,000 in Damages

LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1300 block of 3rd Street at approximately 11:00 p.m. last night. The caller stated the kitchen was on fire and they were getting everyone out of the house.

“Lewiston Police Officers arrived first and assisted occupants exiting the building and advised fire crews to access from the rear of the structure. The first arriving LFD engine company started fire extinguishment and was soon joined by a Clarkston Fire Department engine company and knocked the fire down quickly,” according to a press release. “Crews then began to ventilate and check for any fire extension in the building. Crews were on scene for approximately two hours to contain hotspots and assist with fire cause investigation.”

The department responded with three structural engines, two ambulances, three chief officers, and one fire inspector. Clarkston Fire Department personnel responded with one structural engine as part of the Valley Auto Aid Agreement. There was a total of 21 personnel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $100,000.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries to report.
