
The 12th Annual Avista Holiday Basketball Tournament begins Thursday with varsity boys’ and girls’ action taking place at the P1FCU Activity Center on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College.
Junior varsity tournaments will be contested at Lewiston and Clarkston High Schools.
The varsity tournament opens with boys’ action at 9 a.m. Thursday as Clarkston meets Kendrick. Other first-round boys’ games are Colfax against Pendleton at Noon, McCall-Donnelly against Moscow at 3 p.m. and Bonners Ferry meeting Lewiston at 6 p.m.
The girls’ varsity tournament gets under way at 10:30 a.m. with Clarkston facing Moscow. At 1:30 p.m., Colfax plays Pendleton, while Lakeland of Rathdrum and Grangeville battle at 4:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Lewiston meets Shelton, Washington. Shelton is located about 30 minutes north of Olympia.
The tournament continues Friday and Saturday with championship games scheduled for Saturday afternoon (boys at 2:30 p.m., girls at 4 p.m.).
Several participating teams made state tournament appearances last season, including the Bonners Ferry boys and Colfax boys, which both won state titles in their respective divisions.
Kendrick placed second in state, while McCall-Donnelly also qualified for the state tournament.
On the girls’ side, Clarkston finished third at state, while Lakeland and Grangeville both placed fifth. Colfax also participated in the state tournament.
Ticket prices are $50 for a tournament family pass (four people), and $25 for an individual tournament pass. Daily admission is $10 per person.
All Lewiston High boys and girls varsity games will be broadcast live in the LC Valley on The River 105.1 FM and streaming free online at bengalsports.com.
