Man Facing Drug Charges in Idaho County Following Arrest Sunday Night

A man is facing drug charges following his arrest in Kooskia Sunday night.

According to a news release from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, at around 9:20 p.m. an Idaho County Deputy was on routine patrol in the city of Kooskia and stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The deputy determined that the registered owner of the vehicle had two felony warrants out of Payette County.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Keith Buffington, allegedly exited the vehicle and walked toward the deputy, yelling, and would not comply with the deputy’s instructions. The deputy deployed his taser, and after other deputies arrived on scene, Buffington was taken into custody for the Payette County warrants.

Meanwhile, a drug-detecting dog and her handler arrived, and the K9 alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent search of vehicle found methamphetamine, marijuana, several glass pipes, scales, baggies, and a firearm.

Buffington faces charges for felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, felony unlawful possession of a firearm, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer.
