
A Harpster man is facing a felony battery charge for battering an Idaho County Sheriff’s deputy.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, on Thursday night, at approximately 9:50 PM, Idaho County Dispatch received a 911 call about a man who was intoxicated and disorderly. A short time later, another 911 call reported they heard a gunshot in the area.
Idaho County Deputies arrived and spoke with all parties involved. While speaking to the man, he reportedly became combative and battered one of the deputies.
52-year-old Christopher Schmaus was arrested for felony battery on certain personnel and cited for misdemeanor resisting and obstructing.
