Beginning Monday, contractors will begin work on reconstruction of the 250 road on the North Fork of the Clearwater River from the Bungalow Ranger Station site to Kelly Forks Work Center.
According to a news release, the project will improve 18 miles of existing roadway, providing better drainage and surface that will improve travel times and experiences. Road work is anticipated to last until late October and during the period that work occurs visitors should anticipate delays of up to 3 hours with open periods lasting for 30 minutes.
North Fork District Ranger Andrew Skowlund explained: “This project was designed to make sure access will be maintained during the length of work. The delays in travel this summer will improve the visitor experience for future years.
The 250 road is heavily used by recreators who come for fishing, hunting, hiking, and other outdoor recreation. The road work will improve drivability and drainage and will consist of 18 miles of reconstruction.
During the project, the road will be open from 6 PM until 7 am and open all day on holidays and weekends.
