A traditional swimming hole at Laird Park Campground Day Use Area north of Moscow will remain closed for the rest of the year.
According to Palouse District Ranger Buddie Carroll, dam boards used to hold water and create the swimming hole cannot be installed due to a failure in the dam structure. Engineers are designing repair options.
Water quality concerns have also prompted the Forest Service to shut down the water system at the facility, leaving campers without potable water.
Officials are working on plans to address the issue and will update the public when available.
