A Washington woman is facing hit and run and eluding charges following a pursuit in Nez Perce County this (Mon) morning.

According to a press release from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, at around 9:55 this (Mon) morning, dispatch recieved a report of a hit and run that occurred in Latah County involving a Silver 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by 57-year-old Letha Spiry of Buckley, Washington.

Spiry continued to drive into Nez Perce County on Highway 3 where deputies from Nez Perce County along with Idaho State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the Interchange of Highway 3 and U.S. Highway 12. Officers say Spiry continued to drive west on Highway 12 in a manner that was dangerous to the public.

Spike strips were utilized near mile marker 11.5 on Highway 12 in order to stop the pursuit before it entered a more populated area. The spike strips were successful in stopping the pursuit near the intersection of Highway 12 and Coyote Grade.

Spiry continued attempting to drive after her vehicle became stuck. Law enforcement on scene utilized their patrol cars to pin Spiry so she could not move her vehicle any further. There were no injuries and no damage to Spiry’s vehicle or the patrol cars as a result.

Spiry was booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center for felony eluding and misdemeanor driving under the influence.

The Idaho State Police are investigating the original hit and run collision.
