Hiroyuki Yamada gave No. 3 LC State the start it needed on the mound while Jack Sheward and Brandon Cabrera went to work at the plate to help the Warriors bounce back and take Sunday’s contest against College of Idaho. The 11-2 victory secured the four-game non-conference series split in Caldwell.

“Better effort today and nice to rebounds after yesterday’s performance,” Head Coach Jake Taylor said. “Our pitching was exceptional all day.”
Yamada had the strongest outing of any LC State pitcher all weekend with eight strikeouts in six innings. He did not walk a batter and the two runs given up were not earned. Cabrera finished his day with three hits, including a home run, and Sheward was solid at and behind the plate with three hits and a runner caught stealing.
The win moves LC State to 5-3 overall. The Warriors host their home opener Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the first game of a four-game series against the University of British Columbia at Harris Field.
