According to the Food and Drug Administration, The Quaker Oats Company has recently announced an expansion of a previous product recall that includes some 44 common foods sold in Idaho grocery stores
The recall was made public on January 11, 2024, due to concerns over potential contamination with Salmonella, and includes several popular cereals and granola bars.
A variety of Cap’n Crunch cereal, cereal bars and Quaker granola bars and other foods are on list.
The initial recall from December 15, 2023, has been extended to include a broader range of products. Salmonella contamination poses a significant health risk, especially to vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Infection symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In severe cases, Salmonella can cause more critical health issues, including arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
The extended recall affects various cereals, bars, and snacks distributed across all 50 states of the United States and includes products commonly sold in Idaho grocery stores.
Quaker Oats urges consumers to examine their pantries for the listed products and dispose of them immediately. For customer support, refunds, or additional information, individuals can contact Quaker Consumer Relations or visit the company’s dedicated recall website, www.QuakerRecallUSA.com.
Also, the SmartLabel QR code on product packaging can be scanned to verify if an item is part of the recall.
