An Orofino woman facing a charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of another woman has been bound over for trial in 2nd District Court.
Monday’s preliminary hearing for 31-year-old Jessica Colpitts follows the May 22 shooting of Samantha Fignani.
Authorities say Colpitts had a friend drive her to Fignani’s home in Orofino and when Fignani opened the door, Colpitts shot her in the abdomen with a shotgun. Fignani died a short time later at the hospital.
Police believe the shooting was prompted by Fignani’s involvement with Colpitts’ ex-boyfriend.
Colpitts is being held in the Clearwater County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 25. (LMT)
