
In the aftermath of Friday’s thunderstorm event, which resulted in widespread flooding across Lewiston and Nez Perce County, two road closures have been implemented until further notice.
The intensity of the recent storm was unprecedented, with nearly half an inch of rain pouring down within a mere ten-minute timeframe at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport. In meteorological terms, this event can be classified as a 50-year event, indicating that there is a 1 in 50 year chance of such extreme rainfall occurring.
11th Avenue closure: The section of road between 21st Street and Juniper Drive has been closed due to significant sinkholes that led to the collapse of the road surface.

13th Street closure: The stretch of road between Idaho Street and 6th Avenue is currently closed due to substantial sinkholes that caused the road surface to collapse.


Furthermore, various other areas in town have incurred damage, necessitating extensive maintenance work for cleanup purposes.
